Taiwan Strikes $350 Million Deal for Pfizer/BioNTech Vaccine Doses

July 13, 2021

Taiwanese companies Foxconn and TSMC have finalized deals to purchase 10 million doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for $350 million.

Taiwan has been attempting to buy vaccines from BioNTech for months but claimed its efforts were blocked by China. Under the new deal, the two companies will each buy 5 million doses and donate them to the Taiwanese government.

The first doses are expected to arrive by the end of September or possibly later, depending on BioNTech’s production schedules and the progress of vaccinations in Taiwan.
