Pfizer’s COVID-19 Vaccine Produces More Antibodies Than Sinovac’s, Study Finds

July 19, 2021

The Pfizer and BioNTech messenger RNA-based COVID-19 vaccine generates roughly 10 times more antibodies than Sinovac’s inactivated vaccine, according to a new study reported in The Lancet.

The Hong Kong study enrolled 1,442 healthcare workers and evaluated antibody levels in blood samples after the participants received two doses of either the Pfizer/BioNTech or the Sinovac vaccines.

The research team said the differences in antibody levels could have significant implications for the effectiveness of the vaccines, although they did not assess other protective indicators such as the number of T-cells following inoculation.
