FDA Raps RxMed Kart Over False COVID-19 Claims

August 3, 2021

The FDA has issued a warning letter to an online retailer for selling misbranded and unapproved drugs claiming to treat COVID-19.

The agency said the labeling of RxMed Kart’s Ziverdo Kit, consisting of zinc acetate, doxycycline and ivermectin, failed to include proper instructions for their intended uses, making them misbranded.

The FDA says the kit was falsely marketed as a first-line treatment for COVID-19, adding that the company lacked an approved drug application for it and that zinc acetate, doxycycline and ivermectin, either individually or in combination, have not received FDA approval to treat or cure COVID-19.
