Medovate Gets CE Mark for SAFIRA Anesthesia Technology

August 19, 2021

Medovate has received CE marks for additional devices that use its SAFIRA (safer injection for regional anesthesia) technology.

The newly certified SAFIRA devices are an NRFit syringe and a palm operator. The Cambridge, U.K.-based company says the NRFit syringe is a safer option for surgeons than the universal Luer connection syringes originally included with the system.

The term NRFit refers to neuraxial anesthetic devices that are compliant with the ISO 80369-6 standard. In 2019, the UK’s National Health Service recommended a transition from Luer connectors to NRFit for the delivery of regional anesthesia.

SAFIRA devices are currently available in the U.S., Australia and New Zealand, and will soon be available in the UK and Europe, the company said.
