Magellan Diagnostics Expands Recall of LeadCare Test Kits

Magellan Diagnostics has expanded the recall of its LeadCare II, LeadCare Plus and LeadCare Ultra test kits, which are used to detect lead in blood samples.

The company initially issued the recall in May, after it identified an ongoing problem with control tests included in the kits.

Magellan received reports that either the Low-Control or the High-Control tests generated a “low” result, indicating that the affected LeadCare test kits “could potentially underestimate blood lead levels when processing patient blood samples,” said Meridian Bioscience, Magellan’s parent company.
