Sinovac’s COVID-19 Booster Shot Shows Improved Activity Against Delta Variant

September 8, 2021

A booster COVID-19 vaccine from Chinese drugmaker Sinovac can bolster immune activity against the Delta variant, a new study has shown.

Among 66 participants in the trial, those who received a third booster shot of CoronaVac had a 2.5-fold higher instance of neutralizing antibodies against the Delta variant after four weeks when compared against those given two shots, said researchers from Sinovac and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Neutralizing antibody activity against Delta was not observed in samples from vaccinated individuals six months following a second dose, the researchers said.
