Stryker Completes Acquisition of Gauss Surgical

Stryker has acquired the Menlo Park, Calif.-based medical device company Gauss Surgical, developer of the Triton artificial intelligence-based platform for monitoring blood loss during surgery.

Post-partum hemorrhage is the leading cause of maternal death globally. And Triton, which is designed for early recognition of maternal hemorrhage, has shown improvements in maternal and surgical care by enabling earlier intervention, Gauss said.

"Our belief is that Triton technology will help improve the industry standards for quantifying blood loss in the labor and delivery department,” said Dylan Crotty, president of Stryker's instruments division. 

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
