Endo Agrees to Pay $50 Million to Settle N.Y. Opioid Lawsuit

September 14, 2021

Endo International has agreed to pay $50 million to settle lawsuits filed by New York state and two of its biggest counties, Nassau and Suffolk, alleging the Dublin, Ireland, distributer helped fuel the nation’s opioid epidemic.

However, the settlement does not release Endo from any claims filed against it by New York’s Department of Financial Services or stop individual plaintiffs in the state from suing the company. The money from the settlement will go toward funding opioid abuse prevention, treatment and recovery programs.

In New York, Teva Pharmaceuticals and AbbVie remain the only companies facing opioids lawsuits set to go to trial. Whether the drugmakers will eventually settle with the state is uncertain.
