Thermo Fisher Scientific Gets CE Mark for TaqPath COVID-19 Test

Thermo Fisher Scientific has received a CE-IVD mark for the latest version of its TaqPath COVID-19 RNase P kit for identifying active COVID-19 infections.

The RNase P 2.0 is designed to identify the original SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus as well as current variants of concern and future mutations of the virus that causes the pandemic illness, according to the Carlsbad, Calif.-based company.

The redesigned test detects active COVID-19 infections by identifying any one of eight gene targets from the virus, which enables it to deliver accurate results even as mutations shift the genes they express.
