Eudamed, the European Database on Medical Devices, Turns on More Modules

October 15, 2021

Eudamed, the European Database on Medical Devices, has completed a major update it started on Sept. 30, bringing two new functions online.

The new Eudamed modules are those on Unique Device Identification/device registration and Certificates and Notified Bodies. When fully operational, Eudamed will also include modules on clinical investigations and performance studies, vigilance and market surveillance.

The creation of the European device database is a cornerstone of the EU’s implementation of new regulations on medical devices and in vitro diagnostic medical devices that took effect in 2017, but with various transition periods for compliance by certain types of devices and diagnostic products.
