Cepheid Gains CE Mark for COVID-19, Flu and RSV Test

Cepheid has received CE mark certification for its Xpert Xpress CoV-2/Flu/RSV plus, a rapid molecular diagnostic test for qualitative detection of the viruses causing COVID-19, Flu A, Flu B and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infections.

The plus version of the test includes a third gene target for detection of the virus that causes COVID-19 to increase the chances that the test will be able to detect future viral mutations.

The test, which is designed for use on the company’s GeneXpert Systems, can identify all the viruses from a single patient sample and deliver results in approximately 36 minutes.
