Baxter Healthcare Issues Software Patch for PrisMax System for Intensive Care

Baxter Healthcare is issuing a software patch for its PrisMax system, which is designed to control the delivery of continuous renal replacement therapy and therapeutic plasma exchange therapies.

The equipment, which can be customized to specific patient needs, includes a “Same Patient” button that can be selected after a filter change. But if an operator starts therapy with a saved prescription profile and then makes a change to the prescription after changing a filter, the system “may display values from the original prescription profile rather than the current prescription,” the company said.

Baxter said that it has not received any reports of serious injury related to the problem so far.
