Clever Culture Systems Gets 510(k) Clearance for MRSA Analysis Module

Clever Culture Systems has received the FDA’s 510(k) marketing clearance for APAS Independence, its culture plate reading system, along with an analysis module for methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

APAS Independence screens, sorts and interprets culture plates automatically and verifies negative culture plates automatically, at a rate of 200 plates per hour.

The device uses imaging technology and artificial intelligence algorithms to identify culture plates that need to be analyzed by a microbiologist because they have significant bacterial growth.
