FDA Clears AppliedVR’s Virtual Reality System for Chronic Back Pain

November 18, 2021

AppliedVR has received the FDA’s first ever clearance for a virtual reality system that provides cognitive behavioral therapy to help reduce chronic back pain.

EaseVRx is a prescription-only device intended for at-home use. The system features a virtual reality headset and a controller, along with a “breathing amplifier” that directs the patient’s breath toward the headset’s microphone for use in deep breathing exercises.

The system is indicated for use by patients aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with moderate-to-severe back pain lasting longer than three months.
