AstraZeneca Opens $1.3 Billion Research Center 

AstraZeneca has opened a $1.3 billion research and development facility in Cambridge, England, that will accommodate more than 2,200 research scientists.

The new facility will focus on specialized and precision medicines and “foster the discovery and development of next generation therapeutics, including nucleotide-based, gene-editing and cell therapies,” the company said.

The new center is located near two large hospitals and a life sciences cluster that, with 400 companies, is the largest in Europe, AstraZeneca said.
