Motilent’s Gut-Imaging Software Gets FDA’s 510(k) Clearance

Motilent’s GIQuant artificial intelligence (AI) software for medical image analysis has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for use in assessing digestive diseases.

The GIQuant software, which is already being used in UK healthcare institutions, works alongside standard magnetic resonance imaging scans to measure and track movement of the intestine. Intestinal “motility” is often affected by gastrointestinal disease, so it can provide insights into disease progression.

UK-based Motilent has partnered with Nuance Communications, a Microsoft subsidiary based in Burlington, Mass., that markets AI software and speech recognition products.
