FDA Approves Expanded MRI Compatibility for Abbott's Proclaim XR

The FDA has approved newly expanded magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) compatibility for Abbott’s Proclaim XR spinal cord stimulation system with the company’s Octrode leads.

The newly approved labeling lifts MRI restrictions for lead tip location and the amount of radiofrequency power that can be used for an MRI scan. The Octrode leads are implanted, electrically insulated wires that transmit electrical impulses to the target nerves.

The enhanced product provides higher-quality images with faster MRI scan times, the company said.
