Rhythm Biosciences Gets UK Approval for ColoSTAT Blood Test

Rhythm Biosciences has received approval for its ColoSTAT blood test for colorectal cancer from the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency.

The immunoassay measures the concentration of several protein biomarkers for colorectal cancer, selected from among dozens identified by researchers at the Australian government’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization. The scientists identified 68 proteins that vary in concentration in the blood of patients with and without colorectal cancer.

The company previously received a CE mark certification for the in vitro diagnostic.
