Roche Gets EU’s MDR Certification for Its Floodlight MS Smartphone App

Roche’s smartphone app Floodlight MS for assessment of multiple sclerosis (MS) has been certified as compliant with the EU’s Medical Device Regulation.

The app, which is intended to enable data-driven healthcare provider decisions about a patient’s condition, can measure gait and dynamic balance, hand function and cognitive function. It also prompts users to create journal entries about their symptoms, mood and physical status.

The data gathered by the app in combination with in-person physician visits provide a more complete picture that “allows better and more accurate healthcare decisions,” the company said.
