Valneva Reports Its Inactivated COVID-19 Vaccine Candidate Neutralized Omicron

Valneva said that three doses of its inactivated Covid-19 vaccine candidate, VLA2001, neutralized the Omicron variant in preliminary laboratory studies.

All 30 blood samples examined contained neutralizing antibodies against the original SARS‑CoV‑2 virus and Delta variant, and 26 of the blood samples had neutralizing antibodies against the Omicron strain, the company said.

Valneva has been providing data on a rolling basis to the European Medicines Agency and other regulatory authorities and expects to receive authorizations as early as the first quarter of this year.
