FDA Approves Glenmark Pharmaceuticals’ Generic Metronidazole Gel

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals USA has received FDA’s approval for its generic version of MetroGel-Vaginal Gel (metronidazole) 0.75 percent made by Bausch Health.

The prescription antibiotic is used to treat bacterial infections. According to healthcare research firm IQVIA, the branded drug garnered about $60 million in sales last year.

Headquartered in India, Glenmark manufactures 173 products authorized for distribution in the U.S. and currently has 46 abbreviated new drug applications for generics pending approval with the FDA.
