Pfizer Hires William Pao Away From Roche to Head Global Product Development Organization

Pfizer has hired William Pao away from Roche for the role of executive vice president and chief development officer.

Pao will oversee Pfizer’s global product development organization, which is responsible for the company’s pipeline in inflammation and immunology, internal medicine, hospital, oncology and rare disease, as well as regulatory affairs for Pfizer’s R&D pipeline and portfolio of marketed therapies.

At Roche, Pao most recently served as the head of pharma research and early development, and oversaw the discovery and early development of new molecular entities to treat diseases related to cancer, neuroscience, ophthalmology, rare diseases, immunology, infectious diseases and rare blood disorders.
