Winner Silver’s Alginate Dressing Gets FDA’s Clearance

Shenzhen, China-based Winner Medical’s silver alginate dressing has received the FDA’s 510(k) clearance.

The dressing, which is made of calcium alginate and silver particles, absorbs the wound exudate and forms a gel to maintain a moist environment that promotes healing. The dressing is intended for postoperative wounds, trauma wounds, calf ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, grafts and donor sites.

With an antibacterial success rate of 99.99 percent, the dressing can inhibit microbial colonization of wounds for up to seven days, the company said.
