Sensus Healthcare Sells Sculptura Radiation Therapy to Empyrean Medical Systems

Boca Raton, Fla.-based Sensus Healthcare has sold its Sculptura radiation therapy technology to another Boca Raton company, Empyrean Medical Systems, for $15 million.

The technology provides targeted directional radiation therapy using “3D beam sculpting” for cancer patients. The sale, completed Feb. 25, included all Sculptura systems and parts, in addition to all related intellectual property.

Sculptura received the FDA’s 510(k) clearance in February 2019.

Sensus, which specializes in noninvasive and minimally invasive treatments for oncological and nononcological conditions, plans to focus on its core dermatology business, said the company’s CEO Joe Sardano.
