Circa Scientific Gets FDA Clearance For Esophageal Temperature Probe

March 8, 2022

Englewood, Colo.-based Circa Scientific’s S-CATH M esophageal temperature probe has received the FDA’s 510(k) clearance.

The multi-sensor probe can be used to produce 3D images on cardiac mapping systems. The images can help physicians reduce their dependence on fluoroscopy, which requires physicians and lab personnel to wear protective lead aprons to shield themselves from radiation exposure.

The probes can be used to alert physicians to critical esophageal temperature changes during cardiac ablation procedures performed in an operating room or an electrophysiology lab, the company said.
