Rhode Island Opioid Trial Against Teva Gets Under Way

Rhode Island is the latest state to take Teva Pharmaceuticals to court over its alleged role in fueling the opioid crisis, seeking $5.9 billion from the company.

The state is charging Teva with creating a “public nuisance,” arguing that the company downplayed the risks of opioid addiction and promoted fentanyl for uses other than what were approved.

Other states that have taken Teva to court over its alleged role in the opioid crisis include California, New York, Ohio and Oklahoma.
