Philips’ Collaboration Live Tele-Ultrasound Gets Expanded Clearance

March 16, 2022

Philips’ Collaboration Live tele-ultrasound technology has received expanded 510(k) clearance from the FDA for remote diagnostic use on several mobile platforms.

The company says the added functionality for its EPIQ and Affiniti ultrasound systems improves diagnosis on compatible operating systems, including Apple’s iOS, Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows, as well as on the Google Chrome web browser.

The Collaboration Live system lets clinicians “talk, text, screen-share and transfer control to remote colleagues in real-time,” Philips said, adding that the remote diagnosis system could help limit the risk of exposure for healthcare workers and patients to infectious diseases, such as COVID-19.
