Philips e-Alert for MRI Systems Has a Security Flaw, CISA Says

March 31, 2022

The federal Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) said there is a security flaw in Philips’ e-Alert monitoring platform for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems.

The cybersecurity problem affects e-Alert Version 2.7 and prior versions, the agency said. A hacker could potentially use the flaw to remotely shut down the system if it is operating on a healthcare facility’s network.

Philips plans to issue a software update by July to address the vulnerability, CISA said. In the meantime, the company urged customers to ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed to access their networks and the devices connected to them.
