SI-Bone’s Adult Spinal Deformity Treatment Approved for Additional Medicare Payment

April 25, 2022

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has proposed a New Technology Add-on Payment (NTAP) for SI-Bone’s iFuse Bedrock Granite implant for the treatment of spinal deformities.

The spinal fusion device, which stabilizes the sacroiliac joint, was awarded the FDA’s Breakthrough Device designation and the company expects the agency will grant a 510(k) clearance this year.

The new CMS reimbursement category will only kick in when the device is cleared, allowing hospitals to receive incremental reimbursement through the NTAP program.

Based in the Silicon Valley town of Santa Clara, Calif., SI-Bone specializes in solving musculoskeletal disorders of the sacropelvic area.
