Linear Health Sciences Gets FDA Clearance for Its Orchid Safety Release Valve

Linear Health Sciences has received the FDA’s 510(k) clearance and Health Canada approval for its Orchid SRV safety release valve.

The tension-activated valve is designed to reduce the risk of intravenous (IV) catheter failure and replacement in hospitals.

In a recent survey of U.S. clinicians, 95 percent agreed that IV dislodgements pose significant safety risks for patients and hospitals, the company said.

In addition to its launch of the Orchid SRV valve, Linear Health Sciences is also launching a separate product, the Orchid SRV Type D, for use in surgical/wound, nephrostomy and abscess drainage.
