Caption Health Gets CE Mark for Caption AI Tool

Brisbane, Calif.-based Caption Health has received a CE mark for its Caption AI artificial intelligence tool for analysis of ultrasounds to assess heart failure.

The AI diagnostic tool provides medical staff with fast and accurate assessments of cardiac function. Previously, patients could only be diagnosed after trained sonographers performed an ultrasound in a hospital or specialized setting — typically after the onset of symptoms.

Caption AI can be used to detect signs of heart failure in at-risk patients in doctors' offices and at home, helping to prevent avoidable hospitalizations and improve clinical outcomes, the company said.

Caption AI also received 510(k) clearance in 2020.
