CDC Endorses Novavax COVID-19 Vaccine

July 21, 2022

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has given the green light for Novavax’s COVID-19 vaccine for adults 18 years and older following a unanimous recommendation by the CDC’s vaccine advisory committee.

Unlike the Pfizer and Moderna products, the Novavax vaccine product does not use messenger RNA, so it may be more readily accepted by those who have avoided the mRNA product.

The U.S. has secured 3.2 million doses of the vaccine, which will be available within weeks.

“If you have been waiting for a COVID-19 vaccine built on a different technology than those previously available, now is the time to join the millions of Americans who have been vaccinated,” said CDC Director Rochelle Walensky.
