Beckman Coulter Teams With Scopio Labs Over Blood Smear Apps

July 25, 2022

Beckman Coulter has entered into a partnership with Scopio Labs to accelerate the adoption of Scopio’s peripheral blood smear (PBS) image analysis platform.

In May, Scopio received FDA’s 510(k) clearance for its X100HT PBS unit that combines high throughput with high-resolution scanning for analysis of blood samples.

The unit also features an artificial intelligence-powered decision support system and full-field imaging that enables “every cell and every detail” to be seen in a single continuous scan, the companies said.

The high-resolution images can be shared over a secure hospital network, avoiding the need to transport physical slides between locations. The app can detect a variety of conditions, including blood cancers, anemia and infections.

Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.
