FDA Issues Warning Letter to Amazon for Selling Unapproved OTC Drug Products

August 12, 2022

The FDA has issued a warning letter to Amazon for selling unapproved over-the-counter (OTC) drugs for mole and skin tag removal.

The unapproved products include Deisana Skin Tag Remover, Mole Remover and Repair Gel Set, and Skincell Mole Skin Tag Corrector Serum.

The agency noted that no OTC drugs can be legally sold in the U.S. market for mole or skin tag removal.

Products marketed for removing moles and other skin lesions can cause injuries and scarring, the agency said, adding that self-diagnosis and treatment of moles could lead to delayed cancer diagnosis and even cancer progression.
