CardioFocus’ HeartLight Excalibur Balloon Gets CE Mark

The CardioFocus HeartLight Excalibur balloon has received a CE mark for the treatment of atrial fibrillation, an irregular and often rapid heart rate.

The updated device is designed to improve the speed and magnitude of target tissue contact during pulmonary vein isolation procedures used to treat the condition.

The balloon responds to the amount of pressure applied during vein contact to maximize the contact with the pulmonary veins while decreasing the time required to complete ablation procedures.

Marlborough, Mass.-based CardioFocus is planning to launch the HeartLight Excalibur balloon in Europe in the fourth quarter of this year.
