Össur Acquires Naked Prosthetics and Its Finger Prostheses

Iceland-headquartered devicemaker Össur is expanding its portfolio of upper limb prosthetic devices with the purchase of Naked Prosthetics of Olympia, Wash., a developer of finger prostheses that mimic the natural motion of the finger.

Naked Prosthetics manufactures custom finger prostheses specifically for finger and partial hand amputees to restore the ability to perform daily tasks, supporting job retention and encouraging an active lifestyle.

The U.S. company’s finger prostheses “complement our product portfolio and add an important range to our upper limb product offering,” said Össur CEO Sveinn Sölvason.

The financial terms of the purchase deal were not disclosed. The acquisition went into effect on Aug. 26.
