FDA Expands Approval of Acuvue Abiliti Overnight Therapeutic Lenses

September 30, 2022

The FDA has approved an expanded range of Johnson & Johnson Vision’s Acuvue Abiliti overnight therapeutic lenses for myopia management.

Worn overnight to temporarily reduce refractive error in the eyes, the lenses are designed to match the eye’s unique corneal shape and the patient’s prescription.

The lenses are now available at up to 6.00 diopters instead of 4.00 diopters. A diopter is a measurement used to express the optical power of a lens.

It is possible that the lenses could eliminate the need to wear contact lenses or glasses during waking hours after the lenses are removed, the company said.
