Cybersecurity Firm Warns of Vulnerabilities in Canon Medical Vitrea View Software

The cybersecurity company Trustwave Spiderlabs issued a warning concerning two vulnerabilities it found in third-party software for Canon Medical’s Vitrea View tool.

Vitrea View is a tool that uses the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standard to view medical images. The software issues were discovered during a simulated cyberattack to check for exploitable vulnerabilities.

Trustwave Spiderlabs said the weaknesses could allow an attacker to access patient information and obtain additional access to various services associated with Vitrea View. The vulnerabilities can also allow hackers to access stored images or scans.

Canon Medical did not respond to a request for comment.
