Hamamatsu Photonics NanoZoomer Scanner Cleared

Hamamatsu Photonics has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its NanoZoomer S360MD slide scanner system for in vitro diagnostic use.

The automated system is intended to aid pathologists in reviewing digital images of surgical pathology slides prepared from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue.

The high-throughput scanner can handle 360 slides in a single batch. It also allows for switching between fully automated and semi-automated operation.

Shizuoka, Japan-based Hamamatsu Photonics manufactures devices for the generation and measurement of visible, infrared and ultraviolet light, including scientific cameras.
