Zeiss Disposable Electrosurgery Forceps Gains 510(k) Clearance

October 12, 2022

Zeiss Medical Technology has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its MTLawton tool, a disposable bipolar forceps that reduces tissue adhesion and subsequent charring during electrosurgery.

The company said that the copper-base alloy used to make the forceps can conduct heat away from the silver-plated tips faster, improving cautery-based hemostasis.

The surgical instrument will be presented at the Congress of Neurological Surgeons in San Francisco, Calif. from Oct. 10 to Oct. 12.
