Thermo Fisher Enteric Bacterial Panel Earns CE-IVD Mark

October 13, 2022

Thermo Fisher Scientific has received the CE-IVD mark for its TaqPath enteric bacterial select panel which is designed to detect common gastrointestinal (GI) bacteria.

The test uses polymerase chain reaction technology to analyze stool samples for a range of common GI bacteria, including salmonella spp., shigella spp., enteroinvasive E. coli, campylobacter jejuni, campylobacter coli and campylobacter upsaliensis.

The test delivers results in about two hours with more than 98 percent sensitivity and specificity, contrasting with culturing samples which typically take up to two weeks.

Up to 93 samples can be tested in a single run, the company said.
