Companies Have Another Year to Comply with UKCA Mark

October 25, 2022

The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said that CE marked devices will continue to be recognized in England, Wales and Scotland until June 30, 2023.

In addition, new certificates issued by EU-recognized Notified Bodies will continue to be valid for the Great Britain market until that date, the agency said.

The one-year extension will allow more time for companies to make their devices compliant with the new UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) mark, which was introduced after the UK left the European Union.

Starting July 1, 2023, a UKCA mark will be required in order to place a device on the market in England, Wales and Scotland. The UKCA marking is not recognized in the EU.
