Thorne HealthTech and GenTegra Team Up for DNA Collection Kits

Thorne HealthTech and GenTegra have inked a collaboration deal to develop a whole blood DNA collection cartridge as well as a stabilization and extraction kit.

The partners will combine Thorne HealthTech’s FDA-cleared OneDraw blood collection device and GenTegra’s proprietary matrix of chemicals that keep biomolecules stable in a dry ambient state by coating them with a protective layer.

The cartridges and test kits will feature “cold-chain-free preservation of DNA, combined with DNA extraction technology” that will benefit “both users and labs processing the samples,” the companies said.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
