FireGene’s Monkeypox Virus Nucleic Acid Detection Kit Gains CE-IVD Mark

October 27, 2022

FireGene has received a CE-IVD mark certification for its Monkeypox virus nucleic acid test kit.

The polymerase chain reaction test kit can detect the virus from rash fluid, nasopharyngeal swabs, pharyngeal swabs or serum samples, delivering results within 40 minutes of sample collection.

Monkeypox can be transmitted between animals and humans or between humans. The main symptoms are fever, severe headache, swollen lymph nodes, back pain, muscle aches and weakness.

The kit is now available for diagnostic uses in countries that accept CE-marked IVD tests. It is also available for research use in the U.S.
