ABM Respiratory Care’s BiWaze Cough System Gets CE Mark

November 3, 2022

ABM Respiratory Care has gained the CE mark for its BiWaze Cough system which provides airway clearance for individuals who are unable to cough productively.

The BiWaze system combines assisted cough and lung expansion along with high frequency oscillation to break up and remove mucus from the lungs, separating the inhale and exhale pathways to ensure inhaled air is not contaminated with mucous from exhaled air.

BiWaze first applies positive air pressure to the airway and then rapidly shifts to negative air pressure. After exhalation, the user goes through a pause phase before the next assisted cough cycle.

The company plans to launch the system in Europe for use in hospitals, long-term care facilities and in homes.
