Adam’s Secret Draws Warning Letter for Misbranded Drugs

January 23, 2023

Undisclosed tadalafil and sildenafil in a “male enhancement” supplement and lorcaserin — a controlled substance that has been withdrawn from the U.S. market — hidden in a weight-loss supplement, have earned Adam’s Secret USA an FDA warning letter.

These products, which were sold online, are considered both unapproved new drugs and misbranded drugs, and can’t be sold in the U.S., the letter says.

The New Jersey-based company has been dinged before over this issue, most recently in July 2022. The FDA issued a public warning not to buy Adam’s Secret Extra Strength Amazing Black capsules after a lab analysis showed they contained tadalafil. Analyses of other Adam’s Secret sexual function products commenced, with several issues found.

The products included Adam’s Secret Extra Strength Purple and Adam’s Secret Extra Strength 2000, both of which contain a combination of the phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE-5) inhibitors tadalafil and sildenafil. Sildenafil is the active ingredient in Viagra and tadalafil is the active ingredient in Cialis.
