PeekMed’s Updated Web Product Cleared for Orthopedic Surgical Planning

The FDA has granted 510(k) clearance to PeekMed’s updated web-based automatic orthopedic surgical planning software.

The updates include support for live automatic segmentation for computed tomography scans and x-rays as well as automatic landmarks detection. The interface is “faster, and more intuitive” and provides the surgeon with the ability to approve the plan as is or make manual changes, the company said.

The web tool can produce plans in under 30 seconds, according to the Braga, Portugal-based company. PeekMed will feature the updated software at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Annual Meeting (AAOS) in Las Vegas March 7-11.
