AdvaMed Outlines Medical Innovation Priorities for Congress

AdvaMed has issued a medical device agenda for the 118th Congress, laying out multiple Congressional actions to “help usher in a new era of innovation.”

The industry group’s policy priorities include seeking increased patient access to diagnostic tests and devices and holding the FDA to its Device User Fee Amendment (MDUFA) commitments — including meeting increased hiring targets for medical device review staff and adding resources to streamline the medical device review process.

The association is also urging lawmakers to enact the bipartisan Verifying Accurate Leading-edge IVCT Development Act (VALID) which would require the FDA to regulate in vitro clinical tests.
