LivaNova’s Heart-Lung Machine Cleared for Use in Perfusion System

LivaNova has received 510(k) clearance for its Essenz Heart-Lung Machine, to be used along with the company’s Patient Monitor and Perfusion System during cardiopulmonary bypass procedures.

The system, which acts as a patient’s heart and lungs during an open-heart procedure, includes a cockpit feature, providing a central view to control the medical device and check perfusion and patient parameters.

The Essenz system can also be integrated with operating room external devices and hospital information systems, the company said.
