FDA Clears Brainomix e-ASPECTS AI Stroke Imaging Platform

Brainomix’s 360 e-ASPECTS artificial intelligence (AI) software has received FDA clearance to aid in faster interpretation of brains scans of stroke patients.

The software interprets non-contrast computed tomography (CT) scans and then generates an Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score (ASPECTS) to determine middle cerebral arterial stroke severity as well as an overlaid heatmap to visually assist clinicians in assessing the output.

Studies have shown that 360 e-ASPECTS has enabled faster and better treatment, improving patient outcomes by tripling the number of patients achieving functional independence after stroke, and increasing the rates of both thrombolysis and thrombectomy by more than 50 percent, the company said.
